DION CHARLES was born April 15, 1977 in Man in the region of 18 mountains, a region located to the west of COTE D’IVOIRE. His artist name is CHARLY DION LE MONTAGNARD, he is reggaemaker. CHARLY DION LE MONTAGNARD is his childhood in the town of Man and Common yopougon in the city of Abidjan.
In 1997 and 1998 he made the woyo with a group, which makes Zouglou, more precisely the group Adoke meaning in language yacouba it must succeed. It is with this group and the genre he imbibed the music thing. Then come to Abidjan in Yopougon, CHARLY DION LE MONTAGNARD is forced to abandon the Zouglou because not finding group to repeat.
As always in Yopougon, he was visiting an elder who lived in the student town of the municipality and CHARLY DION LE MONTAGNARD note that it listening reggae unlike the majority of students who listen zouglou (music popular at that time). So curiosity of reggae brings CHARLY DION LE MONTAGNARD to discover BOB MARLEY, PETER TOSH and CULTURE etc……. Also with explanations of his elder who told him that reggae is a music of wisdom, then CHARLY DION LE MONTAGNARD falls in love reggae.
Since 1999, CHARLY DION LE MONTAGNARD began composing his first reggae texts that will lead him to record a demo of 2 tracks in 2005. Followed by a second model of two titles in 2009 which will allow it to participate in the presidential campaign of 2010. In 2013 he released a single called “TRISTESSE” which urges national reconciliation.
End of 2014, CHARLY DION LE MONTAGNARD released an album of 10 tracks which is a self-production and is the first of his career, entitled “MON CHOIX”, sung in French, English and Yacouba (his ethnic group).
The album talks about the well being of society, among other peace, national reconciliation, forgiveness, the fight against child labor and the fight against female circumcision. CHARLY DION LE MONTAGNARD makes the guitar accompaniment and is inspired by the great reggae such as BOB MARLEY, PETER TOSH, Nazio FONTAINE, ALPHA BLONDY and TIKEN JAH etc ……
