BAYO Karamo, alias FARAKHAN BAYO was born in 1975 in Abidjan (Republic of COTE D’IVOIRE).
Fighting against the ancestral ban on artists from pious families and royal castes (art reserved for the caste of griots in Africa), Promoting multiple cultural axes, promoting literature and oral art become his priority.
From Rap in 1989 with nationals of his town via Reggae Dub (2 step or UK GARAGE) in 2000 in England, to SLAM in Rouen (France), adds narration and storytelling to his arc.
The culture exhibited by writers such as AHMADOU KOUROUMA, CHEICK ANTA DIOP, AMADOU HAMPATE BA, and avant-garde speakers such as SEYDOU ZOMBRA, SORO N’GANA, GI’S and DEMOCRATES D mark his adolescence.
Creator of school events in 1993, then member of the University Movement of Rap (MUR) in 1994, he then created a group called PORT MOTHER LAND in 1995 subsequently winning many prizes with groups such as DOUMBA CULTURE, 2BRUYA, all awarded by the world radio RFI (radio France international).
Thus he made the first parts of KOOL SHEN, OXMO PUCCINO, SULLY SEFIL, CLAUDY SIAR, and the dedication of Zoxea, after which follow collaborations with KILL POINT (Guinea), ARDIESS (Benin) etc…
Then he performed with LONE of SANKOFA SQUAD (London – England in 2000).
Participate with the collective OR SERIE in Saint Denis (France), in the cultural pole of SOS RACISME from 2002 to 2005 to stop the war in DARFOUR, and in Ivory Coast.
He militates for the promotion of African cultures and music of the diaspora in order to hoist emerging and universal Africa in a traditional, electronic and acoustic sound environment.
The scenic adventure exposes him to the eighth games of the Francophonie in the hip hop category at the Treichville wood canal, during the MASA (African Performing Arts Market) festival of 2014, 2016 and 2020, respectively in Port Bouet, at the Oiseau-livres space at the Treichville Palace of Culture and at the Brissols space at the Plateau and also at the close of the Abidjan
International Slam Festival in 2019 in Gonzagueville.
The Grand Bassam initiative at heart on RTI (Radio Television Ivoirienne) on the C’MIDI program (world premiere) on March 22, 2016 and July 14, 2016, a work of struggle to stop the terrorism that has affected Cote d’Ivoire.
The FEMUA (Anoumabo Urban Music Festival) 2016 to Marcory Anoumabo on the podium with Mama Kaffé (Reggae Star).
On the strength of his experience, he released an album of 9 titles called FARAKHAN BAYO and his civic activism to stop CORONA VIRUS occupied him to this day as an educator and artist committed to a healthier world. To be continued.
